About Me
Hi, my name is Anwyll de Leeuw. I am a musician, teacher, writer and photographer from Johannesburg, South Africa. After completing an Information System’s degree from the University of Johannesburg in 2008, I worked as a System’s Analyst for 10 years at different I.T. consulting houses and financial institutions.
During this period, playing guitar was just a hobby – a means to unwind and just jam. I really wanted to take music more seriously and improve my playing, and so in 2015, I decided to pursue a career in music and signed up for an undergraduate degree at the University of the Witwatersrand.
After completing an honours equivalent professional degree in 2020, I enrolled in a Master’s program at WITS focusing on music composition – a program which is still in progress.
About Greyscale Media
I founded Greyscale Media (PTY) LTD in 2014. Greyscale’s initial focus was photography; however, the company has since evolved to provide music education and live music entertainment as well trading as Greyscale Music. Greyscale Music provides individual and group music lessons (guitar, bass guitar, piano, and drums).
In 2019, I started a community facing music project called Arts for Us, where the focus is to make music education accessible in poor income and previously disadvantaged areas. Having partnered three churches, St. Andrews in Eldorado Park, EBC Church in Bosmont, and LRC in Linbro Park, the Arts for Us project is active in three teaching sites. It is my hope to formally register a not-for-profit entity in 2023, and run the Arts for Us project through the NPC to better serve the communities.
